You may be wondering about Egypt safety – is it safe to travel in Egypt?
Generally, the crime rate is fairly low and visitors are usually safe to visit this beautiful country. Basic precautions are still important however, so valuables should be kept out of sight and safe, and copies of your ID should be made and kept somewhere safe.
Is it Safe to Travel in Egypt?
There is a risk of terrorist attacks in areas where expiates and tourists gather. These are indiscriminate and can target restaurants, clubs or hotels. Caution is advised at all times.
Street protests and any political demonstrations should be avoided, as these can often turn violent and police are called in to subdue angry crowds.
Egypt is a very conservative Muslim country, and respect is extremely important to avoid offending local residents or being targeted by any potential extremists who may be sensitive to Western visitors.
Women should dress accordingly; showing no shoulders or knees, and should also try and avoid travelling alone as harassment can occur in some areas.
