El Alamein Budget Travel

El Alamein, which means "the two flags" in Arabic, is a town in northern Egypt on the Mediterranean Sea coast.

Some of the most popular highlights and attractions on El Alamein budget safaris include a war museum which has collectibles from "the civil war" and other North African battles, the Italian and German Military Cemetery on Tel el-Eisa Hill just outside the city and the Commonwealth war cemetery of soldiers from various countries who fought on the British side.

El Alamein has an option for overnight stay, however this stop is best explored as a day trip from Alexandria – history buffs especially will enjoy exploring the World War 2 sites, and photographic opportunities are excellent.

I have never been asked about camels before! ,) The best thing about Egypt is EVERYONE knows a man with a perfume shop, a taxi and a camel/donkey/horse. I would ask any hotel or travel agent in Alexandria to organize something for you. You wouldn't need to do this well in advance - the day before would do. Personally I don't think getting around Alamein would be suitable on a camel. Each of the cemeteries are linked with main roads, villages and infrastructure and even if you went 'out the back' into the desert you would still need to come back to the main road to enter each site. Obviously your camel man will need to stay outside with the camel while you wander around inside each cemetery. Check out the museum too - it is well worth it.
