When is the best time to travel to DRC? Current instability aside, generally the best time to visit DRC is during the dry months which are usually a bit cooler with less rain and humidity.
As DRC is based on the equator, seasons are reversed in the north and south parts of the country, with the northern areas having their dry season from December to February and the southern areas having a dry season from April to October.
Rainy season makes roads almost impassable, and creates extremely hot and humid conditions which can get uncomfortable. In the northern areas rainy season runs from April to October, while in the southern areas this is from November to March.
Flooding is also common during the rainy season, and DRC has the most thunderstorms of any country in the world. Volcanoes are also a danger, and certain areas near the mountains may not be safe during times when volcanic activity is frequent.
