What to Pack for your DRC Safari?

Packing for your safari in DRC takes a bit of planning, so if you are unsure what to pack for your safari then follow these basic guidelines to see what you will need.

For clothing, you will need loose, lightweight clothing with long sleeves. Women should not wear skirts or shorts, or expose shoulders at any time. A sunhat, sunglasses and sunscreen is essential as the weather is hot year round.

A warm jacket for colder nights is recommended, as well as a rain coat or similar rain protection. You will also need sturdy hiking boots or walking shoes.

You may bring a camera, but be very careful not to take photographs of the river, airport or any other remotely military seeming place or building. Spare film and battery is also a good idea. Binoculars are useful for bird spotting, but be careful to only use these in national parks to avoid any suspicion from locals or military.

Mosquitoes are rife in DRC, so insect repellent and mosquito netting is essential.
