A day-by-day breakdown of what to expect and where you'll be staying.
Day 1, Addis Ababa to Arba Minch
It's an early start as we leave Addis and begin our adventure in the Omo Valley. We pass by the beautiful Rift Valley lakes before arriving into our destination.
Day 2, Arba Minch
Spend the morning on a Lake Chamo boat trip and the afternoon viewing the Nechisar National Park.
Day 3, Arba Minch to Turmi (via Omorate)
The road continues through the savannah and runs along the 'Mountains of Men'. It then rises up the Karkerte Mountains until it reaches the soft, terraced hills of Konso where we visit a local village. Nothing in Ethiopia or Africa prepares you for South Omo. This area is filled with extraordinary cultural intensity. Here we'll encounter the Galeb people and see their villages before heading back to Omorate and on to Turmi where we spend the night.
Day 4, Turmi to Mago National Park
Today the tour heads up to Murulle where we visit the Karo tribes of Kolcho and Dus. A rough road takes us toward Mago National Park passing through homelands of the Karo tribe and onward to our camp.
Day 5 to 6, Mago National Park to Awassa
After a brief stopover in Jinka we drive towards Key Afer and visit the Ari and Bana tribes. Lunch can be had in one of the local hotels or restaurants and all kinds of fruit and goods are sold along the roadside. On the way to Awassa we stop off in Chencha to visit a Dorze village. The Dorze people are renowned cotton weavers and their tall beehive shaped huts are the most distinctive in Africa.
Day 7, Awassa
Gateway to the Bale Mountains... explore as you wish.
Day 8 to 9, Awassa to Dinsho
The tour now heads out east towards Dinsho passing through immense fields of wheat, barley and high-altitude meadows. Dinsho is the gateway to the Bale Mountains National Park. The park encompasses Mt Tullo Deemtu, the second highest peak in Ethiopia.
Day 10, Dinsho to Addis Ababa
