What to Pack for your Congo Safari?

Going on an overlanding tour and wondering what to pack for your Congo safari?

Basic items include clothing such as loose, lightweight cotton clothes with long sleeves for mosquito protection, rain jacket, warm jacket for cool weather, comfortable hiking or walking shoes, long shorts or pants for women (women may not expose shoulders or knees in Congo as this is a largely Muslim country) and sun protection – including a good sunhat and sunglasses.

Other important items to pack include binoculars for bird and wildlife spotting, camera with extra batteries, memory or film, a good torch and sleeping bag if you are on an overlanding adventure.

Generally, there are some swimming areas along the coast, but swimming in lakes or rivers is not advised due to crocodiles, hippo and infected waters so swimming costume is optional, depending on whether you plan to visit the coast.
