Congo Transport

Congo transport options offer a few ways for travelers to get around the country at relatively low cost.

Getting around Congo

The most common methods of getting around Congo include car, taxi and boats or ferries. All offering varying degrees of price and reliability, however please not that there are almost no totally reliable transportation options in Congo.

Taxi Travel in Congo
Taxis are generally one of the best ways to get around, and state controlled green taxis can be found in most areas, especially urban regions. Prices are fairly good, but driving in taxis can be a bit nerve wracking – especially in traffic.

Car Travel in Congo
Self-drive is not recommended due to the poor state of the roads and the high levels of traffic and accidents across the country. However, if you are self-driving, be extra careful and drive defensively to avoid accidents.

Water Travel in Congo
Ferries and pirogues on the Congo River are a common method of transport and offer a unique and memorable experience. Ferries can take a long time to fill however, and offer no shade or comfortable seating.
