Congo AIDS

Congo AIDS is a growing concern, and one of the leading causes of death in the country.

Extreme poverty, years of civil war which the country is only just emerging from and poor healthcare facilities are some of the factors influencing the AIDS situation.

A 2008 UNAIDS/WHO Working Group Report on the Global AIDS Epidemic estimates that about 73,000 adults of 15 years or over in Congo were living with HIV. This rate is estimated at around 3.5% of the adult population.
