A day-by-day breakdown of what to expect and where you'll be staying.
Day 1 to 3, Cape Town to Oudtshoorn (via Cape Agulhas)
An early start from Cape Town sees us head for the bottom of Africa - literally - Cape Agulhas. If the season is right we may see some Southern Right or Humpback Whales as we head up the coast towards Swellendam. A short divert away from the coast sees us pass through the Outeniqua Mountains and the Little Karoo region before reaching Ostrich territory!
Day 4 to 5, Oudtshoorn to Tsitsikamma National Park (via Knysna)
2 days heading up the stunning Garden Route and we pass through the home of the Oyster Festival - Knysna. The region has plenty to offer and the gorgeous scenery around Storms River and Tsitsikamma National Park also allows for forest walking and hiking opportunities. Adrenaline junkies can chuck themselves off the mother of all bungee jumps or black water tube the Storms River.
Day 6 to 7, Tsitsikamma National Park to Addo Elephant National Park (via Jeffrey's Bay)
After passing through the local surf spot of Jeffrey's Bay we turn back inland and aim for Addo Elephant National Park. Home of the Big 7 but as importantly - lots of Elephants!
Day 8 to 10, Addo Elephant National Park to Malealea
A big drive day awaits as we leave South Africa and enter the mountainous Kingdom of Lesotho. Absolutely stunning scenery is dotted with little villages, waterfalls and sturdy Lesotho pony's. Try out the pony trekking, hike or relax and swim in the rock pools close to camp.
Day 11 to 13, Malealea to Royal Natal National Park (via Drakensberg)
A quick trip through the capital of Meseru before crossing back into South Africa and entering the Drakensburg region, well known for majestic mountains and dramatic rock walls. This UNESCO World Heritage Site offers many nature hikes and activities including a trip to the Tugela Falls.
Day 14 to 15, Royal Natal National Park to Johannesburg
The city of gold is our stop - Johannesburg. Take a trip to Soweto and find real African culture at its best, visit the Apartheid Museum or even tour the local brewery.
