The best time to visit Cameroon is during the dry months between November and February, which is hot, dry and windy but ultimately clear making it easy to travel through the country.
Game is more visible during these months, as vegetation is lower and game is concentrated to water sources, making wildlife easier to spot.
The northern areas have rain from about April to October, while the south has scattered rain showers throughout the year – travelling during these wet months is almost impossible, and mud turns the country into an impenetrable landscape with most national parks closing for the wet season.
Bird watching however is usually best during the wet season, although many species of birdlife in the southern regions can be found year round.
The dry season is accompanied by the dusty harmattan winds which turn everything red from all the dust in the air, and travelers with chest problems or allergies should be prepared.
