Cameroon Transport

Cameroon transport options are fairly varied, with a number of affordable and reliable options available as well as some options to avoid.

Transport can generally be found in almost all areas of Cameroon, while some smaller towns can easily be explored by foot.

Getting around Cameroon

There are a number of options for getting around Cameroon, which range from reliable and cheap to dangerous and unreliable.

Car Travel in Cameroon
Self-drive is a fairly easy and reliable way to get around Cameroon, but in rainy season the roads are almost impossible to navigate, and only experienced drivers should attempt to drive in Cameroon’s sometimes frantic city roads.

Bus Travel in Cameroon
Buses are fairly cheap, and are mostly reliable in the larger cities. Some drivers may not be sober or skilled however, so bus travel can be somewhat scary – especially on the busy city roads.

Taxi Travel in Cameroon
Taxis are readily available, and are generally ‘bush taxis’ which are mini-vans that operate within cities as well as between towns. Driving in one of these is scary at best, and can also be dangerous in cities where crime is more common.
