Cameroon Conservation
Cameroon conservation is a joint effort by government and environmental groups to ensure the protection and conservation of Cameroon’s delicate natural resources.
One of the largest conservation groups in Cameroon is the Cameroon Wildlife Conservation Society, which works with communities as well as government groups to implement key projects such as establishing protected areas.
Additional projects include the flagship reserve Deng Deng National Park which is a designated area where critically endangered gorilla can be found among other threatened species. Takamanda National Park is another successful model of conservation area.
Preservation Cameroon
About 6 million acres of the country is set aside for preservation Cameroon projects, and while these areas are guarded as closely as possible, they still face threats from poaching.
These protected areas are comprised of national parks as well as forest reserves, including areas around Mount Cameroon and remaining tropical rainforests.
Awareness and increased conservation measures are being implemented more and more each year however, which could shift the delicate balance of Cameroon’s ecology.
