Best Time to Visit Burkina Faso

The best time to visit Burkina Faso is around mid-October to December, when the weather is at its best.

This time of year is before the windy season and after the rainy, humid season, and also after the hot season in mid year – offering the best climate all-round and is ideal for activities like game spotting.

Wildlife viewing is best during the dry months, as game is easier to spot in the savannas and tend to concentrate around water holes and rivers. Bird watching however is best during wetter months, as many migrating species appear in these times and habitats are more lush and thick.

Roads can be very bad in the wet season, and some parks close during these months as they are inaccessible by road.

December to February brings the dusty harmattan winds from the desert, which can cause havoc for those with allergies or asthma and coats everything with fine red dust.
