Vaccinations for Burkina Faso

All travelers will need basic vaccinations for Burkina Faso travels, to ensure that no diseases are brought into the country as well as no diseases obtained in the country.

All travelers should have shots for hepatitis A and B, typhoid and yellow fever inoculations for travelers over 1 year of age.  A vaccination certificate for yellow fever shots will often be requested when entering the country.

A one-time polio booster is a must for any adult traveler who completed the childhood series but did not have a polio vaccine as an adult. A rabies shot is also recommended for travelers who will be spending time near animals, which is essential for game viewing or even rural area visits where there may be cats or dogs.

Two measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) shots are recommended for travelers born after 1956 who haven't had MMR shots. A tetanus-diphtheria revaccination is also recommended every 10 years.
