Burkina Faso money & banking is mostly conducted in the main cities, and rural areas outside of cities may not even have an ATM or any facilities.
Banks in Burkina Faso include Eco Bank, Bank of Africa and Central Bank, and are generally only found within the main cities of Ouagadougou and Bobo-Dioulasso.
Banking hours are generally from Monday to Thursday from 07h30 to 11h30 and from 15h00 to 16h00, and then on Fridays from 07h30 to 11h30 and from 15h30 to 17h00.
Currency can be exchanged at international banking facilities in the city, including Banque Internationale du Burkina (BIB), Eco Bank and Banque Internationale pour le Commerce, l’Industrie et l’Agriculture du Burkina (Biciab). Generally, this is not always possible however – but Euros have a far better chance than Dollars.
It is best to have a mixture of cash, travelers checks and credit card when travelling in Burkina Faso, and when in the large cities, draw enough to keep you going until you can withdraw again.
