The primary Botswana religion is Christian, which includes Zion Christians, Anglicans, Methodists, United Congregational, Lutherans, Catholics, Mormons, Seventh-day Adventists, Jehovah's Witnesses, Baptists and Dutch Reformed denominations.
Many tribes practice Badimo, which is a Tswana traditional religion which is based on ancestral beliefs and practices. The word badimo means ancestor in Setswana. Many Botswana locals practice Badimo principles alongside more westernised religions.
Traditional healers are often consulted as well as conventional doctors, and many beliefs from the Badimo religion are held by Christians in Botswana.
Most Christian services are practiced in urban and rural areas, either in Tswana or in English. Other religions are generally mostly practiced in the larger towns.
There is a fairly small Islam culture in Botswana; however this is only practiced in certain areas by immigrants to the country. Hinduism is also practiced to a small degree, especially in the larger towns where Hindu temples can be found, as well as Buddhism to a very small degree.
