About Nxai Pan

Nxai Pan is situated in Botswana, next to the famous area of Makgadikgadi Pans in the north-east. Nxai Pan budget travel has a host of attractions ranging from excellent game viewing opportunities to birding.

Nxai Pan airports include: • Maun Airport

Nxai Pans birdlife is rich, with large numbers of species such as Korhaan, Ostrich, Kestrel and Goshawks to be seen.

As one of the lesser-known game areas, Nxai Pans conservation is able to preserve the area in a natural state which is untarnished by human influence. The Nxai Pans National Park supports a number of game, bird and plant species.

Nxai Pan malaria medication includes the following: • Mefloquine (Lariam) • Atovaquone/proguanil (Malarone) • Doxycycline

Nxai Pans vegetation is varied, with a range of habitats including forest and savanna woodland and large areas of open grassland.

Safety Tips

• Lodges and camps are generally unfenced, so don't attempt to sleep outside your tent as there may well be dangerous wild animals prowling the area • Do not ever attempt to feed or touch any wildlife you see - many species could be dangerous and human interference is not permitted • Stay in your car during game drives and follow your guide's instructions at all times to ensure safety • While most camps are free of crime, it is best to keep valuables in the safe and do not leave anything lying around which could be too tempting to resist • The water is generally not safe for swimming, and crocodiles or hippos may be lurking within the banks

Travel Books

Nxai Pan recommended travel books include the following: • The Soils of the Nxai Pan Area by K Verbeek • Botswana in Pictures by Alison Behnke • Africa's Top Wildlife Countries: Botswana, Kenya, Namibia, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia & Zimbabwe by Mark W.
