To date, Botswana has not qualified for the World Cup, and they did not get through the 2010 World Cup Qualifier games held in 2008.
Botswana 2010 World Cup is therefore not on the cards for the national team.
The Botswana team is known as The Zebras, and while soccer is the country’s national sport, the team have not done too well in recent years.
Recent politics include the sacking of former manager Colwyn Rowe apparently for his safety from angry fans. Rowe was replaced by current manager and coach Stanley Tshosane, who saw them achieve an impressive 2-1 win against Mozambique and then a draw with Ivory Coast.
Key players include Tshepiso Molwantwa, Dipsy Selolwane, Mogogi Gabonamong, Moemedi Moatlhaping, Dirang Moloi, Pontsho Moloi, Ernest Amos, Ndiapo Letsholathebe, Tshepo Motlhabankwe, Michael Mogaladi and Nelson Gabolwelwe.
Some of their biggest wins have included a 6-2 win against Swaziland in 2002, while their first international game was lost to Malawi in 1968 at 8-1.
