Dune 45, Shooting Stars and Beer with Brentby Bianca van der Bergh

The Best of South West Africa overland tour is one of our most popular tours that go from Cape Town to Vic Falls. If you have 20 days to enjoy as much of Africa as you can, then this is the one for you. Brent Jutras returned from his tour in May and sent us some of the photos he took. Just look at that smile.

Some of Brent's highlights included climbing Dune 45 to see the sunrise, ditching his tent to sleep under shooting stars, and sharing beers with campers at the Etosha watering holes.

Some interesting facts about Dune 45:

  • It's just over 170m high
  • Dune 45 is the 45th kilometre of the road that connects the Sesriem gate and Sossusvlei
  • The red color of the dune is due to the oxide molecules contained within the sands that are "rusting"
  • It roughly takes a hour to reach the top

Some of the great places you'll visit on this trip include: Cape Town, the Orange River, Namibia, Etosha National Park, Botswana, Maun, the Okavango Delta and Victoria Falls. Brent thoroughly enjoyed the Best of South West Africa overland trip. He said that they covered a lot of ground and he got to see everything that he wanted to. He was also glad that he got to make some new friends along the way. Awesome!

We hope you enjoyed reading this and that you're inspired to go on an African adventure. Whether it be Cape Town to Victoria Falls or anywhere else in Africa, we have many awesome overland trips to choose from.
