Health Precautions in Angola

It is always important to follow basic health precautions in Angola to ensure the safest and most enjoyable holiday experience.

Water and Food in Angola
Drinking water is not safe in Angola, and some foods may not be cooked with decent hygiene standards. Only eat cooked foods, unless it is fruit or fresh vegetables, and cooked food that is no longer hot should be avoided along with food that has been left to stand.

Medication in Angola
Antibiotics and anti-diarrhoea drugs are good to bring as tummy bugs are common, due to the heat and food reactions.  Mild painkillers are also recommended as dehydration or sun stroke can occur in the hot months.

Swimming in Angola
Avoid swimming in rivers, lakes and ponds as bilhazia and other issues can sometimes be present. Tour guides will know which places are safe for swimming however. Tap water should be boiled before being used for baths or showers.
