Build Your Trip to Africa
Who is the Overlanding Team de Force?
Behind every great company there is a team of great people - this is ours.
Mixo Shivambu - Senior Sales Consultant
Q: If you were given a ticket to anywhere in Africa, where would you go and why? A: Definitely Tanzania, to see the annual Migration.
Q: If you could choose any car to travel across the country with; what car would you take and why? A: A Landrover Discovery, it’s a rough ride!
Q: What is the best part of your job? A: The excitement clients have when booking their trip to Africa and the questions they ask.
Andre Van Kets - Managing Director - IT & Tech
Q: What is one of the things you would put on your “bucket” list? A: Hang gliding.
Q: If you were stranded on a tropical island what 2 things would you want with you? A: My surfboard and guitar.
Q: What is the favourite part of your job? A: Building websites that get people REALLY excited about choosing Africa over other worldwide travel destinations. That... and problem solving.
Steve Conradie - Managing Director - Operations

Q: What is the strangest thing you’ve ever eaten? A: It depends on what you consider strange. I eat anything that is edible. My best part of a fish is the head and once I'm done, there is nothing left besides bones! P.s. That’s not the strangest thing, but we will keep it clean!
Q: If you could swim in any liquid what would it be and why? A: I know you are expecting something strange like a chocolate bath or one large G&T, but nothing beats swimming in the ocean, surrounded by an awesome array of colorful fish – as long as the water is warm!
Q: What is the favourite part of your job? A: It has to be witnessing the success of a team effort within our company, followed closely by a satisfied customer!
Renier van Schalkwyk - IT Manager
Q: What color is your tooth brush? A: Black and Orange (Racing colours).
Q: What is one of the things you would put on your “bucket” list? A: World Travel.
Q: What is the favourite part of your job? A: Helping the team succeed and researching new technology.
Ellena van Tonder - Sales Manager

Q: If you were stranded on a tropical island what 2 things would you want with you? A: An iPod and tea.
Q: If you could swim in any liquid what would it be and why? A: Cool, clean, dark water of a secret rock pool.
Q: What is the favourite part of your job? A: The admin tasks (yes really!)
Justin Roux - Financial Manager
Q: What color is your tooth brush? A: GREEN
Q: What is one of the things you would put on your “bucket” list? A: Doing a few runs in a Top fuel Dragster.
Q: What is the favourite part of your job? A: Juggling tasks with confidence, without dropping any of the balls and off course change...naturally.
Dalene Ingham-Brown - e-Marketing assistant
Q: What is the strangest thing you’ve ever eaten? A: I once ate a fish eyeball as a dare. I'll try anything twice.
Q: If you were stranded on a tropical island what 2 things would you want with you? A: A 'How To Survive on a Tropical Island' guide and a piece of mirror (so I can use it to start a fire, cut stuff and check if I've got anything stuck in my teeth).
Q: What is the favourite part of your job? A: I love the freedom to be creative my job allows. Love it!
Greg Meyer - e-Marketing assistant (SEO)
Q: If you were stranded on a tropical island what 2 things would you want with you? A: A boat and extra gas.
Q: If you could swim in any liquid what would it be and why? A: Chocolate Steri Stumpi! Just the thought gives me goosebumps!
Q: What is the favourite part of your job? A: Starting each morning with a drink of the special coffee in the kitchen! Seriously though, there are so many aspects of my job that I like, it would be difficult to pinpoint just one. For the first time I actually enjoy what I do in exchange for remuneration. I enjoy working on the internet and I love learning and implementing search engine optimization and search engine marketing.
William Carswell - Developer
Q: If you were stranded on a tropical island what 2 things would you want with you? A: Firstly, a woman, to satisfy my hunger (a man's got to eat right?) and secondly, I would take a machete; no animals are going to eat me!
Q: If you could swim in any liquid what would it be and why? A: Beer = happiness.
Q: What is the favourite part of your job? A: There are several things I like about my job, but the most significant one is being able to work within the travel industry and contribute to earthling travel. This passion brings unique, challenging and exciting ideas on the way we develop, and present our lovely continent to the end-user.
Marlise Stassen - Junior Web developer
Q: If you were given a ticket to anywhere in Africa, where would you go and why? A: Zambia, to see the Victoria Falls and to go tiger fishing.
Q: What is the one object you wouldn’t be able to live without? A: My Ipad.
Q: What is the best part of your job? A: What I love about my job is that each day I am faced with interesting new challenges, which require both logical and lateral thinking to resolve.
Bukeka (Bk) Mangcu - Reception
Q: What is one of the things you would put on your “bucket” list? A: One of the things in my bucket list has to be, going bunjee jumping when I have the nerve to do it.

Hi Risa, we sell scheduled overland truck safaris which is a fantastic and awesome way to travel as you get to see and experience quite a lot in a short space of time. We have trips ranging from 3-days to 70 days full of adventure and fun. Although there are some long driving days, this is just to get to another destination as distances that need to be covered during tours can be quite lengthy. I have emailed you some more information and we look forward to seeing you on one of our trips! Happy trails!

My daughter has always wanted to go on a safari. She is 16 and I am considering a trip for June 2012 for 2 weeks. I hesitate because I did not want a package tour that feels touristy, I travelled around the world with my back pack 1982-1986 and hated the package tour coming in and out, making a mess... Not seeing or learning anything. What would you recommend for June as a trip. She wants to see animals in their habitat, but I am not interested in dangerous areas. We would be coming from Lyon, France. Thanks for information. Best risa
